President William Ruto has reiterated that young people are central to Kenya’s development and economic transformation, noting that they should be viewed as part of the solution to the country’s challenges rather than a problem.
Speaking during the official opening of the Siaya Community Digital Hub in Bondo, the President said the government has deliberately introduced measures aimed at empowering the youth and creating meaningful employment opportunities.
“For far too long, our youth have been perceived as part of our country’s problems,” President Ruto said. “Yet these young people — skilled, talented, innovative and energetic — are the solution to the challenges facing us; they are the assets that can turn Kenya into a first world economy.”
The Head of State said the establishment of digital hubs across the country is part of the government’s broader strategy to equip young people with digital skills, expand access to technology and promote innovation.
While in Bondo Town, the President also addressed traders and residents, assuring them of the government’s commitment to ensuring balanced development across the country.
“We are determined to develop every part of Kenya as part of our plan to make our nation more equal and ensure opportunities are available to all citizens regardless of where they live,” he said.
The Siaya Community Digital Hub is expected to support youth training, innovation and digital entrepreneurship, helping young people access opportunities in the growing digital economy.
