Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy Ali Hassan Joho has donated KSh 5 million during a fundraiser aimed at supporting football clubs from Kwale County competing in Division One and Division Two leagues.
The fundraiser was held at Denmak FC Grounds, bringing together leaders and football stakeholders from the county.
Speaking during the event, Joho said supporting local football is key to nurturing talent and empowering young people.
“It was an honor and distinct pleasure to join Kwale County leadership in raising funds for the operations of Division I and II football teams, at the request of the FKF Kwale Chairman,” he said.
He emphasized that grassroots football plays a critical role in community development and youth engagement.
“Local football is a powerful tool for promoting social cohesion, physical and mental health, and personal development. By engaging youth, it fosters a sense of belonging and pride, nurtures talent for our national teams, and creates employment opportunities,” Joho added.
Leaders present at the event included Faisal Bader, Fatuma Masito, Benjamin Tayari, and Eng. Lungasi, alongside 13 Members of the Kwale County Assembly.
Joho was accompanied by leaders from Mombasa County, including Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir and Mohammed Soud Machele.
