President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accelerating development in the Lower Eastern region through strategic investments and collaboration with local leaders.
Speaking after a meeting at State House, Nairobi, the Head of State said the government is working closely with leaders from Machakos and neighbouring counties to address long-standing development challenges that have slowed the region’s progress. “We are working with leaders from Machakos and other Lower Eastern counties to tackle development challenges that have made the region lag behind for far too long,” he said.
Ruto emphasized that the government’s focus is on unlocking the region’s economic potential through targeted investments. “Our goal is to unlock the region’s economic potential through investment in infrastructure, water, agriculture and enterprise,” he noted.
He added that aligning leadership and resources will be key to achieving sustainable growth. “By aligning leadership and resources, we will drive inclusive growth, create jobs and deliver lasting transformation for our people,” the President stated.
The meeting brought together several leaders from Machakos County, led by Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya. Others in attendance included Machakos Town MP Caleb Mule, Kangundo MP Fabian Muli, Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo, and former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita.
The engagement is part of a broader government strategy to enhance regional development through partnerships with local leadership, with a focus on improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities across the country.
