President William Ruto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, announcing that it will receive KSh765 billion in the next financial year, the highest allocation in the national budget.
Speaking during the commissioning of students’ hostels at St Joseph’s Chepterit Girls High School in Nandi County, the President said the government is continuously removing barriers that prevent learners from accessing quality education.
“We are continuously eliminating barriers to education that may limit learners from acquiring quality knowledge,” President Ruto said.
During the visit, the President also handed over a school bus to the institution to improve transport for students.
He further announced plans by the government to expand the school’s infrastructure, including the construction of a 2,500-capacity hall, 30 additional classrooms, and a new administration block.
The institution is also expected to receive 100 computers in May as part of efforts to enhance digital learning.
According to President Ruto, the developments are aimed at doubling the school’s student capacity from the current 1,600 learners, as the government works to strengthen education and train skilled human capital to drive Kenya’s national transformation.
