Shadrack Maluki, President of National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K), has called on team managers and coaches to take a leading role in preparing athletes for upcoming international competitions.
Speaking while opening the Team Managers Meeting, Maluki emphasized that the journey to Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games begins with strong leadership from those guiding the athletes.
“Today isn’t just another meeting — it is where our journey to Glasgow 2026 truly begins. I need each one of you to understand how important you are in this process,” he said.
He highlighted the critical role played by team managers and coaches, describing them as the foundation of success for Kenyan athletes on the global stage.
“You are not just team managers or coaches — you are the heartbeat of our teams, the link that holds everything together. When our athletes succeed, it’s because you stood firm behind them, guided them, protected them and believed in them,” Maluki added.
The NOC-K President urged officials to embrace unity, discipline and commitment as the country prepares for major competitions.
“Let’s carry the true spirit of Harambee — pulling together, pushing each other and never leaving anyone behind. That spirit is what will take us to Glasgow ready, and even further to Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games stronger than ever,” he stated.
Maluki called for a united front, noting that teamwork and focus will be key in ensuring Kenya performs strongly on the international stage.
“I want us to show up as one united force — disciplined, focused and proud to wear the Kenyan flag. If we do this together, there’s no limit to what we can achieve,” he concluded.
