A new Jamia Mosque has officially been opened in Isebania, Migori County, marking what Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed described as a significant milestone for the Muslim community in the region.
The newly completed mosque is expected to serve as a central place of worship for Muslims in Isebania and surrounding areas, while also providing a venue for religious education, community engagement, and social development activities.
Speaking during the official opening ceremony, Junet said the completion of the mosque reflects the community’s commitment to strengthening faith, unity, and peaceful coexistence among residents. He noted that places of worship play a vital role in promoting moral values, fostering social cohesion, and supporting community development.
“The opening of this Jamia Mosque is an important milestone for the Muslim community in Isebania. It provides a place where people can worship, learn, and come together in unity,” Junet said.
The legislator commended all individuals, religious leaders, and well-wishers who contributed to the construction of the mosque, saying their collective efforts had made it possible for the local Muslim community to have a modern place of worship.
He also urged worshippers to use the mosque as a centre for promoting peace, tolerance, and harmony among people of different faiths and backgrounds. According to Junet, religious institutions have a critical role to play in fostering national unity and encouraging dialogue within communities.
Religious leaders who attended the ceremony welcomed the opening of the mosque, describing it as a major boost to Islamic worship and religious education in the area. They expressed optimism that the facility would strengthen community bonds while providing a conducive environment for prayers, Quranic studies, and youth mentorship programmes.
Residents also welcomed the development, noting that the mosque will make it easier for worshippers to access religious services and participate in community activities.
