Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s focus on accelerating key drivers of economic transformation during a development tour of Chepalungu Constituency in Bomet County.

Speaking in Chebunyo, the Deputy President emphasized that investments in roads, electricity, housing, and markets remain central to building a more prosperous and equitable Kenya.

“Step by step, the building of a more desirable Kenya is on course, with all hands on deck,” said Kindiki.

Key Projects in Bomet County

  • 525 km of roads under construction at a cost of KSh19.5 billion

  • Electricity connectivity for 25,000 households worth KSh1.8 billion

  • Housing, markets, and institutional projects valued at KSh12.2 billion

  • National Fertilizer Subsidy Programme boosting agricultural productivity

The Deputy President also inspected the Chebunyo Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) Market, a KSh57 million project currently 60% complete. The modern facility will include cold rooms, lactation rooms, a social hall, restaurant, and ICT hub to support small-scale traders and digital opportunities.

Additionally, he reviewed progress on the 65km Kyogong–Kapkesosio–Sigor–Kaboson–Chebunyo road, a KSh2.1 billion project expected to enhance connectivity and unlock economic potential in the region.

Kindiki noted that nationwide, the government is overseeing the construction of 6,000 km of new tarmac roads, following the clearance of pending contractor bills worth KSh177 billion.

The tour was attended by Hilary Barchok (Bomet Governor), Hilary Sigei (Senator), Linet Toto (Woman Representative), and Victor Koech Mandazi (Chepalungu MP), alongside local leaders and residents.
