India clinched a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Malawi to secure a third-place finish in the FIFA Series match played at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
In an entertaining and closely contested encounter, the Indian women’s team—famously known as the Blue Tigresses showed resilience and attacking quality to edge past their opponents.
Goals from Astam Oraon, Aveka Sing, and Priyadharshini Selladurai powered India to victory, while Malawi responded through Ireen Khumalo and Deborah Henry, who kept the contest alive until the final whistle.
The match delivered end-to-end action, with both sides displaying determination in their quest for a podium finish. However, India’s clinical finishing ultimately made the difference in a five-goal thriller.
The result sees India walk away with third place honors, while Malawi settle for fourth place after a spirited campaign in the tournament.
