The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has concluded a three-day training programme for Huduma Centre voter registration clerks, ahead of the rollout of a nationwide registration exercise.
The clerks are set to be deployed across 59 Huduma Centres as part of preparations for the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise, scheduled to begin on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Kwale County.
According to the Commission, the 30-day exercise aims to decentralize voter registration services to the ward level to improve access for eligible voters across the country.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon urged the clerks to carry out their duties with professionalism.
“You are now part of the IEBC. Be ambassadors of the Commission and uphold the trust placed in you,” he said.
Ann Nderitu emphasized the importance of adherence to operational procedures and maintaining professional standards during the exercise.
Hassan Noor Hassan called on the clerks to uphold discipline and ensure the safety of electoral materials.
Moses Sunkuli noted that the training was designed to prepare the clerks for deployment and align operations at Huduma Centres with the Commission’s service standards.
The Commission said the deployment of voter registration services through Huduma Centres is intended to enhance accessibility and support broader participation in the electoral process.
