The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has declared that it will field candidates for all elective seats across the country in the 2027 General Election, effectively rejecting zoning arrangements within the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

Speaking during a sensitization forum at Ukunda Showground in Msambweni, UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar said the party will not уступ ground to coalition partners. “We are here to tell our supporters that UDA will not be stepping aside for anyone. In 2027, there will be no zoning,” he stated.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi echoed the position, emphasizing that the party is focused on building a strong national presence and securing victory across all levels, from MCA to governor.

The forum, hosted by Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani, doubled as a mobilisation drive ahead of the Phase II repeat grassroots elections scheduled for April 23. Leaders urged residents to register in large numbers to strengthen party structures at the grassroots level.

Governor Achani pointed to ongoing development projects as the foundation of the region’s support for the party. “From the Shimoni Fish Port to the Diani Market and key road projects, the government has delivered. Our task is to ensure UDA remains dominant in Kwale,” she said.

During the event, Nominated Senator Raphael Chimera declared his intention to vie for the Kwale senatorial seat in 2027, signaling the beginning of early political alignments in the region.

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy and Taita Taveta Woman Representative Lydia Haika were among leaders who called on party members to prepare for competitive elections, even within coalition ranks.

Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya highlighted ongoing development under the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, citing improvements in infrastructure, fisheries, tourism, and electricity connectivity across the Coast region.

Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago noted that the government is committed to addressing historical development imbalances in Kwale and the wider Coast region.

Leaders present reiterated the importance of strong grassroots structures and unity within the party, noting that the Coast region is poised to play a significant role in shaping the 2027 electoral outcome.
