Tusker FC secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Murang’a Seal in an FKF Premier League encounter played at Wang’uru Stadium on Tuesday.
The Game Week fixture saw the Brewers display strong defensive discipline, with a moment of aerial brilliance proving decisive as they walked away with all three points.
Tusker, the 13-time league champions, went into the match under the guidance of new French head coach Charles Mette, who was taking charge of his first game. Despite recent inconsistency, the Brewers were keen to build on their solid head-to-head record against Murang’a Seal.
The hosts, who were sitting higher on the table before kickoff, started confidently. Murang’a Seal’s organized defensive structure and recent form made them tough opponents, especially on home soil.
The decisive moment came in the 26th minute when Tanzanian striker Ibrahim Joshua powered in a header from a well-worked set piece. The goal exposed Seal’s vulnerability in defending dead-ball situations and sent the Tusker bench and traveling fans into celebration.
Murang’a Seal responded positively, pushing forward with intent and enjoying spells of possession as they searched for an equaliser. However, Tusker’s defence remained compact and composed, frustrating the hosts’ attacking efforts.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Seal pressing higher up the pitch and Tusker looking dangerous on the counterattack. Both coaches made tactical substitutions in an attempt to change the flow of the game, but neither side managed to add to the scoreline.
The match ended without red cards or major injuries, underlining the disciplined and competitive nature of the contest. The result mirrored their previous meeting on October 26, 2025, when Tusker also claimed a narrow 1–0 win.
Joshua was deservedly named Man of the Match for his match-winning header and tireless performance. While Murang’a Seal will rue missed opportunities, their overall organization remained impressive.
The victory lifts Tusker further up the standings as they continue their push for a top-five finish, while Murang’a Seal remain firmly in the mix despite the setback. As the FKF Premier League season unfolds, tightly contested matches like this continue to highlight the intensity and excitement of Kenyan football.
