Shabana FC have officially parted ways with head coach Peter Okidi, bringing an end to his tenure at the Kisii-based side by mutual agreement.

The club confirmed the decision on Tuesday morning following growing pressure from fans and a series of disappointing results in the FKF Premier League.

Okidi, popularly known as “Mwalimu,” joined Shabana with strong credentials, holding a CAF A License and serving as assistant coach for the Kenya U17 national team. During his time in charge, he guided the team through notable moments, including a strong run in November 2025 that earned him the Coach of the Month award.

Despite early promise, Shabana’s form dipped significantly in the second half of the season, with defensive lapses becoming a major concern. Heavy defeats, including a 5-1 loss to AFC Leopards, and further setbacks against Kariobangi Sharks and Nairobi United intensified pressure on the technical bench.

Frustration among supporters grew, with chants calling for the coach’s exit becoming common at Gusii Stadium and other match venues.

Okidi had previously acknowledged the team’s struggles, admitting concern over repeated defensive mistakes and inconsistent performances.

Shabana currently sit outside the top five despite earlier ambitions of challenging for the title, prompting the club to make changes as they look to stabilise their campaign.

No replacement has been announced yet, with the club expected to begin the search for a new head coach ahead of crucial upcoming fixtures.

Okidi’s exit adds to the increasing number of managerial changes in the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season, highlighting the growing pressure on coaches to deliver results.
