The four-day development tour of the Nyanza region by President William Ruto today enters its final day with the launch of the construction and upgrading of the 32-kilometre Kanyawanga–Kwoyo–Madiaba–Dede–Odongo Oher–Rapogi–Awendo Road in Awendo Constituency, Migori County.

The road project is expected to improve transport and connectivity for residents while facilitating the movement of agricultural produce and other goods across Migori and neighbouring areas.

During his final day in Migori, President Ruto is also scheduled to inspect several infrastructure projects, including the Stella–Sibuoche–Gogo–Oyani Road in Uriri Constituency, the Masaba Power Sub-Station in Kuria West and the Posta–Nyirongi road network in Suna East.

The tour has taken the President through Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay and Migori counties, focusing on government projects in roads, water, housing, energy, healthcare, agriculture and other sectors.

In Kisumu County, Ruto commissioned and inspected several projects, including the KSh8.4 billion Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Project, which is expected to expand access to clean water and sewerage services for thousands of households.

In Siaya County, the President launched and inspected various infrastructure projects, including roads and the Dhogoye Bridge, while also reviewing developments in housing, healthcare, water and sports facilities.

He also launched the Kalandini–Ka Elija Road in Rarieda as part of the government’s ongoing road development programme in the county.

In Homa Bay, the tour focused on water, transport, education and other development projects, with the President engaging local leaders and residents on ongoing and planned investments.

The tour comes as the national government continues to highlight increased investment in the Nyanza region. Government officials have put the value of projects undertaken in Nyanza at more than KSh220 billion, while President Ruto has cited planned investments in the region running into hundreds of billions of shillings.

The four-day programme has combined project launches, inspections and public engagements, with infrastructure development and service delivery featuring prominently during the President’s visits across the region.
