President William Ruto has appointed United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Samuel Muchina to oversee the implementation and monitoring of key government development projects in Ol Kalou Constituency following the recent parliamentary by-election.
The President said the move is aimed at ensuring ongoing projects are completed on time and that residents continue to benefit from the government’s development agenda despite the outcome of the by-election.
Among the priority projects Muchina has been tasked with monitoring is the completion of 36 rural electrification projects spread across all the wards in the constituency. The government says the projects are expected to increase electricity connectivity, spur economic activities and improve access to essential services.
Muchina will also supervise the construction of housing units for vulnerable families under a government welfare programme, with the administration targeting the completion of at least two houses in every ward.
In the water sector, he has been directed to oversee the completion of borehole projects aimed at improving access to clean and safe water. Five boreholes, one in each ward, have already been initiated as part of efforts to address persistent water shortages in the constituency.
The appointment also places Muchina at the centre of efforts to monitor the progress of the proposed university project, the construction of the Ol Kalou Constituency Stadium and the completion of stalled road tarmacking works intended to improve transport and support economic growth.
Additionally, the UDA candidate will oversee the completion of the modern JM Level 5 Hospital, a flagship healthcare project expected to enhance access to quality medical services for residents of Ol Kalou and neighbouring areas.
President Ruto said the government remains committed to delivering development projects across the country regardless of political affiliation, emphasizing that residents should continue to enjoy the benefits of ongoing public investments.
The directive comes in the wake of the Ol Kalou by-election, with the government seeking to ensure that projects initiated under the Kenya Kwanza administration are completed within the stipulated timelines.
Muchina is expected to work closely with relevant government ministries, county officials and local leaders to monitor implementation, address bottlenecks and provide regular progress reports on the projects.
The appointment underscores the government’s commitment to accelerating development in Ol Kalou through improved coordination and oversight of critical infrastructure and public service projects.
