President William Ruto has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to working closely with faith-based institutions, describing the Church as an indispensable partner in Kenya’s socio-economic development.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi, where he hosted leaders of the Methodist Church in Kenya, the President said the Church continues to play a transformative role in key sectors such as health, education, social services, and community empowerment.
“The Church’s enduring presence at the grassroots continues to uplift lives and strengthen the moral fabric of our society,” President Ruto said.
During the engagement, the Head of State assured the church leaders of government support, including plans to settle debts of up to KSh 2 billion owed to Methodist University. He said the move would enable the institution to continue delivering essential services without undue financial strain.
President Ruto also called on the Church to complement government efforts in combating drug and substance abuse by providing moral leadership, spiritual guidance, and mentorship to young people.
“Together, we shall nurture a generation grounded in strong values, discipline, and purpose, and secure a brighter future for our nation,” he said.
The President emphasized that collaboration between the Government and faith-based institutions remains key to achieving inclusive development and social cohesion across the country.
