President William Ruto Launches Major Projects as Alliance High School Marks 100 Years

President William Ruto has highlighted education, sustainability and infrastructure as key pillars of Kenya’s future as he presided over the launch of major development projects at Alliance High School, during celebrations marking the institution’s 100th anniversary.

“As part of celebrating 100 years of Alliance High School, I had the honour of launching various projects that will boost the teaching and learning programme at the premier institution,” President Ruto said.

He announced the commissioning of a new dining hall, the opening of the 640-bed Centennial Hostel, and the inspection of the ongoing construction of a new church at the school, describing the developments as critical to improving the learning environment and student welfare.

“We commissioned the new dining hall, opened the 640-bed Centennial Hostel and inspected the ongoing construction of a new church at the school,” the President stated.

In addition, President Ruto launched the Solarisation Programme for Basic Education Institutions, a flagship initiative aimed at reducing energy costs in schools while promoting clean and reliable power across the education sector.

“Also launched the Solarisation Programme for Basic Education Institutions that will reduce the cost of energy in our schools, expand access to clean and reliable power, and unlock the potential to generate up to 150 megawatts of solar energy,” he said.

The President noted that the transformative programme, whose pilot phase already covers 266 schools, will create green jobs, strengthen climate action, and accelerate Kenya’s transition toward green growth.

“This transformative project will also create green jobs, strengthen our climate action, and accelerate our journey towards green growth,” President Ruto added.

He praised Alliance High School for its century-long legacy of academic excellence and leadership, noting that investments in education infrastructure and renewable energy are key to preparing young people for the future.
