Police in Kisauni, Mombasa County, have launched investigations into the brutal murder of an 11-year-old girl whose body was discovered dumped about two kilometres from her home.
According to the girl’s mother, Glorias Kaizeh, the child was last seen on Saturday, March 14, 2026, playing with friends near their home before she disappeared.
The family became concerned when the girl failed to return home later in the day and immediately began searching for her.
“We thought she was still playing with her friends, but when it got late and she had not come back, we started looking for her,” said Kaizeh.
Residents later discovered the girl’s body in a nearby area and quickly alerted police officers.
Police from the local station responded to the scene and moved the body to a mortuary as investigations into the incident began.
Authorities say they are currently pursuing several leads to establish the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death and identify those responsible.
The tragic incident has sparked grief and outrage among residents of Kisauni, with community members calling for swift investigations and justice for the young victim.
Residents have also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and closely monitor the movements of their children to enhance safety within the community.
Police have appealed to members of the public with any information that could assist in the investigation to report to the nearest police station.
