Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has criticised the Orange Democratic Movement, describing the party as weakened by internal divisions following the death of Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Sunday, March 29, 2026, Omanga said the party’s identity had largely been tied to its long-time leader and questioned its current direction.
“ODM is not the ODM we used to know. He is no longer there, so there is no ODM,” she said.
Her remarks come days after rival factions within ODM held parallel National Delegates Conventions in Nairobi, highlighting ongoing disagreements over leadership and control of the party.
Omanga expressed support for the faction associated with Edwin Sifuna and the “Linda Mwananchi” movement, while criticising the group linked to Oburu Oginga.
Omanga recently joined the Democracy for the Citizens Party, a party associated with Rigathi Gachagua, following a fallout with the United Democratic Alliance.
The developments reflect broader political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election, with leaders repositioning themselves within emerging alliances.
Omanga is expected to seek the Nairobi Woman Representative seat in 2027 under her new party as divisions within ODM continue to unfold.
