Mombasa Launches ‘MombasaCare’ to Improve Patient Support in Public Hospitals

By Martha Okoth |March 3, 2026

The County Government of Mombasa has officially launched MombasaCare, a new patient support and navigation service aimed at improving how residents access healthcare services in public hospitals.

The initiative was unveiled at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital in an event attended by Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir alongside hospital officials and county health staff.

MombasaCare has been introduced to ensure every patient visiting public health facilities is welcomed, guided, and assisted throughout their hospital visit. The program will help patients with registration, direct them to the right services, and address concerns that may arise during treatment.

County officials said the service is designed to place residents at the centre of healthcare by ensuring clarity, dignity, and support for everyone seeking medical attention.

“No one should feel lost, ignored, or helpless when seeking care. MombasaCare ensures help is always present and accessible within our hospitals,” officials noted during the launch.

Through trained support staff stationed within hospitals, the initiative aims to reduce confusion, improve service flow, and address patient issues quickly. The program is also expected to enhance accountability within health facilities while improving overall patient satisfaction.

According to the county government, the move is part of broader efforts to rebuild trust in public healthcare services and ensure residents receive quality care in a respectful environment.

Following its launch at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital, MombasaCare will be introduced across all public health facilities in the county.

The program is expected to create a more organized, responsive, and patient-friendly healthcare system as the county continues working toward accessible and dignified medical services for all residents.
