Matiang’i Opens Jubilee Party Office in Kirinyaga as 2027 Campaign Machinery Gains Momentum

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has officially launched the Jubilee Party’s Kirinyaga Branch Office at Ngomongo in Kirinyaga Central Constituency, signaling the party’s renewed efforts to rebuild its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The office was officially opened on Today, during an event attended by Jubilee Party officials, local leaders, youth representatives and supporters from across Kirinyaga County.

The launch forms part of the party’s broader nationwide reorganization aimed at strengthening its presence in counties where it previously enjoyed significant political support before losing ground during the 2022 General Election.

Speaking during the ceremony, Matiang’i said strong grassroots structures would be critical in reconnecting the party with voters and rebuilding confidence ahead of the next electoral cycle.

He described the new branch office as a coordination centre that will oversee party activities throughout Kirinyaga County, including membership recruitment, voter education, leadership training and community engagement.

According to Jubilee officials, the office will also serve as the operational headquarters for mobilizing supporters, coordinating constituency and ward-level activities and strengthening communication between the party’s national leadership and grassroots members.

The opening comes just weeks after the Jubilee Party National Executive Council endorsed Matiang’i as its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election, placing him at the centre of the party’s political revival strategy.

Party leaders said the Kirinyaga office will play a central role in supporting Matiang’i’s presidential campaign by coordinating signature collection where necessary, distributing campaign materials and organizing civic education forums to popularize the party’s policies and manifesto.

Officials noted that the office will also facilitate regular meetings between party leaders and residents to gather public views on governance, economic development, youth empowerment and service delivery.

Beyond the presidential campaign, Jubilee has indicated that the new office will immediately begin identifying, recruiting and vetting potential candidates interested in contesting various elective positions under the party’s ticket.

The recruitment exercise will target aspirants for Member of County Assembly (MCA), Member of Parliament (MP), Woman Representative, Senator and Governor positions ahead of party nominations.

According to party administrators, early identification of candidates will provide sufficient time for leadership training, grassroots engagement and constituency organization before the official campaign period begins.

The launch also reflects Jubilee’s renewed focus on reclaiming political influence in the Mt Kenya region, where the party previously commanded overwhelming support before many leaders and voters shifted allegiance to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Party strategists believe rebuilding physical branch offices across the region will help restore grassroots networks, strengthen membership recruitment and improve coordination of party activities at the county and constituency levels.

Kirinyaga is regarded as one of the key battleground counties in the Mt Kenya region, making the establishment of a permanent branch office an important component of Jubilee’s long-term electoral strategy.

Political observers view the launch as part of a wider effort by opposition parties to strengthen local structures well ahead of the 2027 General Election, with major political formations increasingly investing in grassroots mobilization, leadership recruitment and voter outreach as competition for support intensifies across the country.
