Jubilee Party Deputy Party Leader and 2027 presidential aspirant Dr. Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday held a strategic consultative meeting with party aspirants from Nairobi County as he stepped up efforts to strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the next General Election.

The meeting, held in Nairobi, forms part of Matiang’i’s ongoing nationwide mobilization drive aimed at rebuilding the party’s grassroots networks and consolidating support for his State House bid.

During the engagement, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary stressed the importance of discipline and unity among party members, urging aspirants seeking various elective positions to maintain a common message and work together to strengthen Jubilee’s presence in the capital.

Matiang’i also sought to allay concerns over party nominations, assuring aspirants that Jubilee would conduct free, fair and transparent primaries guided by democratic principles and grassroots participation.

He challenged leaders seeking office to focus on issue-based politics and remain closely connected to wananchi, saying political leaders should offer practical solutions to the challenges facing communities instead of relying on rhetoric.

The forum attracted significant participation from young leaders and members of the New Generation Aspirants movement, reflecting the party’s efforts to broaden its appeal among urban youth and first-time voters.

The Nairobi meeting comes as Matiang’i intensifies a broader 47-county outreach campaign aimed at reviving Jubilee after its disappointing performance in the 2022 General Election.

The former Cabinet Secretary, who has received backing from former President Uhuru Kenyatta as Jubilee’s leading political figure, has increasingly positioned himself as a key opposition contender ahead of the 2027 polls.

Political observers say the renewed grassroots engagements also signal efforts by the party to attract new allies and rebuild local structures as discussions on possible opposition alignments continue.

Matiang’i has maintained that his campaign will prioritize institutional reforms, accountability and issue-driven leadership as he seeks to present himself as an alternative to the current administration.
