The casket carrying the body of Mama Zipporah Jerotich Kosgey arrived at Kipkoror Primary School in Nandi Hills Constituency, Nandi County, where thousands of mourners gathered for her final send-off service.
The late Dr. Zipporah Kosgey, fondly known as “Zippy,” was the wife of veteran politician and former Tinderet Member of Parliament, Hon. Henry Kiprono Kosgey.
Mama Kosgey passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at The Nairobi Hospital after a brave battle with cancer.
A Doctor of Theology, she is remembered for her distinguished career in public service, including her time at the Ministry of Finance, as well as her contributions to enterprise development, mentorship, gospel music, and women’s empowerment through Maendeleo ya Wanawake.
Her journey to her final resting place began with requiem masses held at Consolata Shrine in Westlands and Maximum Miracle Centre in Ruaraka, Nairobi. Her body was later airlifted to Nandi County ahead of the burial ceremony.
The funeral programme saw a structured transition from Nairobi to Nandi, with the final service taking place at Kipkoror Primary School before interment at the family farm in Kipkoror, Chepkunyuk Ward.
She is survived by her husband Hon. Henry Kosgey and her children, including former MP Alexander Kosgey, Wakili Allan Kosgey, and Charlene Kosgey.
The burial attracted a large number of national leaders, clergy, and residents, who turned out to honour a woman described as a pillar of faith, leadership, and community service within one of Nandi County’s most prominent families.
