NAIROBI — Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on Thursday hosted the 23rd episode of Sema na Spox: Bonga na Gava at Harambee Annex, where the Chief Executive Officer of the Konza Technopolis Development Authority, John Paul Okwiri, outlined ongoing developments at Konza Technopolis.

The discussion focused on investment readiness, digital infrastructure, and industrial expansion within the technopolis.

Mr. Okwiri stated that Konza is prepared to receive both local and international investors, citing existing infrastructure designed to support business operations and urban living.

During the session, he pointed to the Konza National Data Center, a Tier III-certified facility, describing it as a key component in supporting data storage and cloud services in the region.

He also noted that Konza has been licensed by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority to host the National Drone Corridor, which will allow testing and operation of drones beyond visual line of sight under regulated conditions.

On industrial development, the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) at Konza is expected to support manufacturing activities, including production of electrical components and textiles for export. According to Mr. Okwiri, the project is projected to create up to 10,000 jobs, with over KSh 1 billion already invested.

The CEO further indicated that government agencies could utilize services at the Konza National Data Center to support digital operations, particularly in areas related to data management and service delivery.

The forum forms part of ongoing public communication initiatives aimed at providing updates on government projects and development programmes.
