KIGALI, RWANDA — Rwanda’s Kepler Volleyball Club delivered a strong comeback performance to defeat Kenya’s General Service Unit 3–1 in the Round of 16 at the 47th CAVB Men’s Club Championship.

The match, played at the BK Arena on April 29, saw GSU start brightly before Kepler turned the tide to secure a place in the quarterfinals.

GSU claimed the opening set 25–23 to take an early lead, but Kepler responded immediately, leveling the match by winning the second set 25–23. The third set proved to be the turning point, with the Rwandan side edging a tight contest 28–26 before sealing the victory with a 25–19 win in the fourth set.

The result ends GSU’s title hopes, with the Kenyan champions now dropping to the classification matches following their elimination from the main competition.

For Kepler VC, the win marks a significant milestone as they advance to the quarterfinal stage, continuing their impressive run in the continental tournament.

Kenya’s presence in the competition has also been reduced, with Kenya Ports Authority now remaining as the only Kenyan side in the quarterfinals after the earlier exit of Equity Bank.
