NAIROBI, KENYA — Kalonzo Musyoka has threatened to initiate private prosecution against Raymond Omollo if those behind the assault of Godfrey Osotsi are not brought to justice.

Speaking from the Senator’s hospital bedside in Nairobi, Kalonzo expressed outrage that the attackers—captured on CCTV—remained at large nearly a day after the incident.

“There is no reason why the individuals who attacked Osotsi have not been apprehended by now.”

The Wiper leader accused the Interior Ministry of presiding over what he termed a “goon administration,” alleging that the violent attack in Kisumu was politically motivated and possibly state-linked.

“If they will not have been apprehended by this time tomorrow, we will institute private prosecution.”

Kalonzo also questioned the inaction of security agencies, including the Inspector General of Police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, despite the high-profile nature of the victim.

He linked the assault to Osotsi’s political stance, particularly his opposition to the “one-term presidency” narrative and his involvement in the Linda Mwananchi movement.

The Senator was attacked on Wednesday at a café in Kisumu, where a group of armed men reportedly confronted him over his political позиции before assaulting him, leaving him with serious head and facial injuries.

Doctors in Nairobi have since stabilized his condition, though they report significant trauma requiring specialized care.

The incident sparked protests in Vihiga County, with residents barricading the Kisumu-Busia highway and demanding swift arrests.

In a late development, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations confirmed the arrest of three primary suspects in Kisumu.

The suspects, aged between 24 and 39, are currently being interrogated at Kisumu Central Police Station, while detectives continue to pursue additional individuals believed to have coordinated the attack.

“We are watching closely. Justice for Osotsi is not a request; it is a constitutional demand.”

The unfolding developments have intensified political pressure on security agencies, with leaders warning that failure to act decisively could erode public confidence in the rule of law.
