Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially confirmed that the 2027 General Election will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2027, marking the formal start of the country’s next electoral cycle and setting in motion a series of strict legal and operational deadlines for candidates, political parties, and public officials.

The announcement was made during the launch of the commission’s Election Operations Plan (EOP) 2025–2027 alongside its Strategic Plan 2024–2029 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), where IEBC officials outlined the roadmap governing voter registration, party compliance, nominations, and campaign timelines.

IEBC Chairperson said the commission is prepared to conduct a “transparent and credible electoral process guided by law and strict timelines,” emphasizing that all stakeholders must adhere to the published schedule without exception.

“The Commission is fully committed to delivering a free, fair and verifiable election. All timelines outlined in the roadmap are binding and must be strictly observed by all participants,” the IEBC noted during the launch.
