KITENGELA, Kajiado County — Five individuals are set to be charged with murder and attempted murder following a shooting at C & M Lounge on January 25, 2026.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has completed a detailed inquiry into the incident, securing crucial evidence including spent cartridges, CCTV footage, and three firearms surrendered by suspects, which were subjected to ballistic testing. A total of 11 individuals gave statements as part of the investigation.
The completed file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Kajiado on February 2, 2026, with recommendations that the five suspects be charged with murder in relation to the death of Kevin Shepashina Maseli, and attempted murder relating to Joseph Kasio, who remains hospitalized.
The DCI says it will act on guidance from the ODPP as the case proceeds and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability through due process.
