Harambee Stars forward Job Ochieng was on target once again, scoring the opener as Real Sociedad B secured a vital 2–0 away victory against Cadiz CF in La Liga 2 on Monday night. The result strengthens the Basque side’s hopes of avoiding relegation, lifting them above the drop zone.
At the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla, the 23-year-old Kenyan broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute with a calm finish, assisted by Jon Balda. The first half had been goalless, with both teams struggling to create clear opportunities. Cadiz pressed high but were thwarted by Sociedad B’s organized defense and fast counterattacks.
The visitors wrapped up the win in stoppage time when Lander Astiazaran scored in the 91st minute, again assisted by Balda. Ochieng, wearing the number 11 jersey, was substituted in the 79th minute but had already made a decisive impact.
This was his second goal in as many matches, following a match-winning strike against Malaga CF last week. He now has four goals in 19 appearances this season, highlighting his growing influence in Spain’s competitive second tier.
The victory moves Real Sociedad B to 13th place in the standings with 34 points after 27 matches, five points above the relegation zone. Cadiz drops slightly to just above them with 35 points, emphasizing the tight mid-table contest.
Ochieng recently extended his contract with Real Sociedad until June 2028, just days after making his La Liga debut for the senior team against Elche on February 7, 2026, becoming only the third Kenyan to play in Spain’s top flight after McDonald Mariga and Michael Olunga.
Under Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy, Ochieng has been a key player in the national team setup, bringing pace, dribbling, and a goal threat in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Next up, Real Sociedad B hosts Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday, and Kenyan fans will be eager to see Ochieng continue his impressive run in Spain.
