Murang’a ECDE Teachers Protest Over Exploitative Employment Terms, Demand Permanent Positions

The teachers, drawn from across the county, marched through major streets carrying placards and chanting slogans, calling on the county government to place them under Permanent and Pensionable (PnP) employment.

“We are qualified, trained teachers, yet we are treated as casual workers. We want dignity, job security, and fair pay,” said one of the protesting teachers.

The demonstrators lamented that despite their crucial role in shaping early childhood learning, they continue to work under temporary contracts with low wages, delayed salaries, and no job security or benefits.

They urged the Murang’a County Government to honor previous promises to improve their work.
