The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is still waiting for a payment of $30 million (USD 30M) from Kenya as part of its contribution to the joint bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027.
According to the Local Organising Committee (LOC), co-hosts Uganda and Tanzania have already submitted their contributions, while Kenya is urged to complete its payment before April 2026.
The LOC emphasized that the funds are critical for advancing preparations for the tournament, including infrastructure upgrades and operational readiness.
CAF has already conducted initial inspections of the proposed venues in Kenya, including Kasarani Stadium and Nyayo Stadium, to ensure that preparations meet the required standards.
AFCON 2027 is expected to be historic, marking the first time the tournament will be jointly hosted by three East African countries.
