United Democratic Alliance (UDA) delegates in Mombasa have been sensitised ahead of the party’s upcoming ward grassroots elections, with members urged to understand the electoral process and their responsibilities in strengthening party structures at the grassroots level.
The sensitisation meeting, held at the Mombasa Showgrounds in Mkomani, brought together UDA delegates and party officials as the party continues preparations for the grassroots elections.
Mombasa Senate aspirant Mgeni Mboto raised concerns over waste management in the county, questioning how funds allocated to address the problem are being utilised.
Mboto said the continued accumulation of garbage in different parts of Mombasa was worrying despite resources being allocated towards waste management.
“Mombasa has turned into a dumping ground despite funds being allocated for waste management. We need to know how these funds are being used and why residents are still facing this problem,” Mboto said.
UDA Secretary-General Hassan Sarai, meanwhile, highlighted development projects being implemented by the national government under President William Ruto, pointing to the Affordable Housing Programme among the initiatives he said residents should take note of.
“We are looking at projects that have been implemented by the government of President William Ruto, including the Affordable Housing Programme. Residents should take note of these projects and use their votes to decide the leaders they want,” Sarai said.
The leaders urged UDA delegates to take the sensitisation message back to their respective wards and encourage party members to participate in the upcoming grassroots elections.
UDA is scheduled to hold its ward grassroots elections on October 3, 2026, as the party seeks to strengthen its grassroots structures and prepare members for the next phase of its internal electoral process.
