Kithure Kindiki has announced that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will conduct grassroots elections on Saturday, March 14, 2026, across 18 counties as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s internal democratic structures.
Speaking at Hustler Plaza in Nairobi on Thursday, the Deputy President said the exercise will allow party members to elect officials who will lead the party at the polling centre level.
The counties scheduled to participate in the elections include Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Vihiga, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Murang’a and Kiambu.
Kindiki noted that the grassroots elections are aimed at strengthening internal democracy within the party and ensuring that leaders representing members at different levels are legitimately chosen.
He said the party remains committed to promoting democratic participation in line with its bottom-up economic empowerment agenda.
The Deputy President made the remarks after chairing a Grassroots Elections Preparedness Status Update Meeting at the party headquarters in Hustler Plaza.
Kindiki added that the meeting was held on behalf of the party leader, William Ruto, as the party finalises preparations for the upcoming grassroots polls.
