A thrilling Kenyan Premier League encounter awaits on Tuesday 7th April as Tusker FC host league leaders Gor Mahia FC in a rescheduled fixture at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
The much anticipated clash is set to kick off at 4:15 PM, with both sides eager to secure maximum points in what promises to be a tightly contested match.
Gor Mahia head into the fixture unbeaten this year and will be keen to maintain their impressive run. However, K’Ogalo are coming off a frustrating 0-0 draw against Kariobangi Sharks FC in their last outing, a result that did not sit well with their supporters.
Speaking ahead of the match, Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor acknowledged the pressure from fans and stressed the importance of bouncing back strongly.
“We are fully aware of fans’ dissatisfaction in our last game played on Saturday where we managed to pick only a point. We have a plan and we believe it will work in our favour,” said Akonnor.
The tactician also warned against complacency despite sitting comfortably at the top of the table.
“Being on top comes with pressure. We must not take anything for granted, given our rivals are trying their best to close the gap. We have worked hard to get here, so keeping the momentum and staying committed is key,” he added.
Historically, clashes between Tusker and Gor Mahia have always been fiercely competitive. In their last five league meetings, Gor Mahia have had the upper hand with three wins, while Tusker have managed one victory, and one match ended in a draw. This recent record gives K’Ogalo a slight psychological edge heading into Tuesday’s encounter.
Gor Mahia will have a few injury concerns, with Byrne Omondi, Sylvester Owino, and Felix Oluoch all doubtful for the clash. However, coach Akonnor has confirmed that the rest of the squad is fit and ready for selection.
Tusker, on the other hand, will be looking to capitalize on home advantage and dent Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run as the title race intensifies.
