BRADFORD, UNITED KINGDOM — Tong FC-Bradford has been named New Club/Team of the Year at the 2026 Bradford Sports Awards, marking a major milestone for the fast-rising grassroots side co-founded by Kenyan coach Jacob Nyaundoh.

The award was presented during the 10th anniversary ceremony held on April 30 at Valley Parade stadium, recognizing the club’s rapid growth and impact within West Yorkshire’s youth football scene.

Nyaundoh, who serves as a director alongside Sean Richard Simpson, has been instrumental in shaping the club’s identity since its founding in August 2025.

“This recognition reflects the hard work of our players, coaches, and the entire community behind Tong FC,” Nyaundoh said following the award, emphasizing the club’s commitment to youth development.

Under his leadership, Tong FC has already posted notable achievements, including guiding the club’s Under-13 side to the semi-finals of the West Yorkshire County Cup—an impressive feat for a newly established team.

Beyond the club, Nyaundoh has also expanded his influence in player development through the launch of the Goalkeepers Premier League in the UK, an initiative aimed at nurturing specialized talent in goalkeeping.

A UEFA C Licence holder currently pursuing his UEFA B Licence, Nyaundoh brings a wealth of international experience. He previously served as head coach of Kenya’s national women’s roll ball team, leading them to the 2017 World Cup and contributing to earlier global success in the sport.

The Active Bradford-organized awards celebrate excellence across both grassroots and elite sport in the district, with Tong FC’s win highlighting the growing influence of community-driven football projects.

Other notable winners included rising youth talents and established professionals, reflecting the depth of sporting excellence in the region.

Tong FC’s recognition not only cements its place as a rising force in UK grassroots football but also underscores the global footprint of Kenyan coaching talent in developing the next generation of players.
