South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will host Kenyan President William Ruto for a State Visit at the Union Buildings in Tshwane on June 4, 2026, in a move expected to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and trade relations between the two African nations.

The visit comes as Kenya and South Africa continue to deepen cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, infrastructure development, technology, security, tourism, and regional integration.

According to South African authorities, President Ruto will be received with full State honours at the Union Buildings, the official seat of the South African government. The two Heads of State are expected to hold bilateral talks focusing on enhancing economic partnerships, promoting intra-African trade, and advancing shared priorities within continental bodies such as the African Union and the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The leaders are also expected to discuss regional peace and security issues, including ongoing efforts to promote stability and economic growth across Africa. The meeting is likely to explore opportunities for increased cooperation in manufacturing, agriculture, energy, digital innovation, and transport connectivity.

Kenya and South Africa remain among Africa’s leading economies and maintain strong diplomatic ties dating back to South Africa’s transition to democracy. Bilateral trade between the two countries has grown steadily over the years, with both governments seeking to remove barriers that hinder business and investment.

The State Visit is expected to culminate in the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at strengthening collaboration between Nairobi and Pretoria. Officials from both governments, business leaders, and diplomats are anticipated to participate in engagements surrounding the visit.

Analysts view the meeting as an important opportunity for the two countries to reaffirm their commitment to African-led development, regional integration, and stronger economic cooperation at a time when African nations are seeking to expand trade and investment within the continent.

Further details on the programme and agreements expected to be signed during the visit are likely to be released by both governments in the coming days.
