Mombasa Governor and ODM Deputy Party Leader Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has reaffirmed the strength and grassroots dominance of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), describing it as a powerful force ready to shape the country’s political future.

Speaking during the ODM Kilifi Convention hosted in Kilifi County, Nassir stated that “ODM is not just a party; it is a sleeping giant, grounded in the people and ready to rise,” emphasizing the party’s extensive nationwide structure and strong grassroots presence.

He added that “with structures from the national leadership to the polling station across all 47 counties and over 8 million members, ODM remains the most formidable grassroots movement in Kenya.” He noted that the party’s mission remains focused on delivering the aspirations of Kenyans through tangible development.

The convention, hosted by Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro, brought together more than 150 aspirants and grassroots delegates, showcasing what leaders described as unity and renewed energy within the party.

Also present was Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho, alongside other regional leaders, including Suleiman Shahbal. Shahbal noted that “our discussions focused on building a more inclusive and responsive party, aligning leadership with the needs of the people, and reinforcing our shared commitment to service and development across the Coast.”

Governor Mung’aro echoed the sentiments of unity and resilience within the party, stating that “we continue engaging with our ODM grassroots members in Kilifi, and as a party we remain strong and unwavering.” He added that collaboration among leaders would be key in strengthening ODM at the grassroots level.

The leaders emphasized that unity remains the party’s greatest strength, with Nassir concluding that ODM is ready to move forward “with the people” as it positions itself ahead of the 2027 General Election.
