Police in Makueni County have launched investigations after a severed male human genital organ was discovered abandoned in the Kiongwani area along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mukaa, together with officers from Sultan Hamud Police Station, secured the scene after members of the public alerted authorities about the disturbing discovery.
According to preliminary investigations, the organ was found near the roadside in Kiongwani area within Mukaa Sub-County along the busy highway.
Forensic officers who processed the scene believe the organ may have been severed at a different location before being transported and dumped at the site.
The recovered body part was taken to the Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending further forensic analysis.
Police said no reports of assault, mutilation or missing persons linked to the incident have so far been made within the locality, complicating efforts to identify the victim and establish the circumstances surrounding the case.
Authorities have classified the matter as a Pending Unidentified Investigation (P.U.I.) as detectives intensify efforts to trace the victim and determine the motive behind the apparent mutilation.
Investigators are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the victim or shed light on the incident to report to the nearest police station.
