Police in Kuresoi North Sub-County, Nakuru County, have launched an intense manhunt for a 50-year-old man accused of killing his wife in a gruesome domestic incident that has left residents of Kioo village in shock and disbelief.
The suspect, Samuel Nyarinda, is on the run after his wife, Everlyn Nyarinda, was found murdered and dismembered inside their homestead, with her remains reportedly concealed in cement sacks hidden within a bedroom.
The tragedy unfolded after Everlyn went missing on Saturday, June 6, 2026, prompting growing concern from family members who said repeated attempts to reach her by phone were unsuccessful. As hours turned into days without any communication, relatives and neighbours began searching the homestead.
Area Assistant Chief Daniel Korir said the couple had a long-standing history of domestic conflict that had repeatedly drawn police attention. The marriage was described as highly volatile, forcing the two to live separately within the same compound—Everlyn in a kitchen structure, while Samuel occupied the main house approximately 100 metres away.
Initial inquiries by family members were met with claims from Samuel that Everlyn had left the home on her own accord. However, relatives say his explanation raised suspicions, especially after inconsistencies in his behaviour and responses.
The breakthrough came when family members and neighbours forced their way into Samuel’s bedroom to conduct a search. What they discovered inside has since been described as one of the most disturbing cases of domestic violence in the area in recent years.
Everlyn’s body was found dismembered and concealed in five cement sacks hidden inside the room. Police were immediately alerted and responded to the scene, securing the homestead as forensic experts began processing evidence.
A blood-stained axe with a wooden handle was recovered from the room and taken in as an exhibit, with investigators treating it as the suspected murder weapon. The scene was later documented and the remains transferred to the mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Everlyn’s sister, Elizabeth Nyanchera, recounted the family’s desperate search and the moment they uncovered the grim reality.
“We looked for her for several days without success. After finding the house locked and receiving no response to our calls, we eventually gained entry and found that she had been killed. Her remains had been hidden within the room.” — Elizabeth Nyanchera
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed that Samuel Nyarinda fled the scene before the discovery was made and is currently the subject of a county-wide manhunt. Police teams have been deployed across Nakuru County and neighbouring areas, with authorities urging residents to report any sightings.
Security officials have condemned the killing, terming it a deeply disturbing case of domestic violence and warning that the suspect will face the full force of the law once arrested.
Investigations are ongoing as detectives work to reconstruct the events leading up to the murder and establish the exact motive behind the killing.
