Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday hosted a high-level consultative meeting with leaders from Nandi County at his Official Residence in Karen, Nairobi, to review the implementation of key government development projects and strengthen coordination between the National and County governments.
The meeting brought together elected leaders from across the county to assess the progress of ongoing flagship projects, identify implementation bottlenecks, and develop strategies to accelerate service delivery to residents.
Speaking during the meeting, Kindiki reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza administration’s commitment to ensuring that development projects are completed on schedule, saying the government remains focused on improving the livelihoods of wananchi through investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, water, and economic empowerment.
“We reviewed the progress of ongoing national government projects in Nandi County and agreed on practical measures to eliminate implementation bottlenecks. Our priority is to ensure every project is completed efficiently for the benefit of the people,” Kindiki said.
Among the major issues discussed was the rehabilitation and expansion of road infrastructure across the county. Leaders noted that improving rural road networks would enhance access to markets, schools, health facilities and other essential services while boosting agricultural productivity.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing rural electrification programmes aimed at connecting more households to the national power grid and expanding access to clean and reliable water through new water supply projects.
Education and healthcare also featured prominently in the discussions, with leaders calling for increased investment in classrooms, laboratories, health centres and medical equipment to improve service delivery in the county.
The leaders further discussed plans to construct modern fresh-produce markets to provide traders with improved trading spaces, reduce post-harvest losses and stimulate local economic growth.
Kindiki emphasized that the National Government would continue working closely with county administrations to ensure that development programmes are implemented without unnecessary delays.
“Nandi remains an important agricultural county, and we are committed to supporting initiatives that improve livelihoods, create employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth,” he added.
The delegation from Nandi County was led by Governor Stephen Sang and Senator Samson Cherargei. Also in attendance were Nandi Woman Representative Cynthia Muge and Members of Parliament Marianne Kitany (Aldai), Josses Lelmengit (Emgwen), Bernard Kitur (Nandi Hills), Paul Biego (Chesumei), and Julius Melly (Tinderet).
The consultative meeting forms part of a series of engagements by the Deputy President with county leadership across the country aimed at monitoring the implementation of government programmes and strengthening collaboration between the two levels of government.
Leaders who attended welcomed the forum, saying it provided an opportunity to address development priorities collectively and ensure projects that directly benefit residents are completed within the stipulated timelines.
