Kilifi County has reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare services through an enhanced partnership with MSI Reproductive Choices Kenya, as the county intensifies efforts to expand access to reproductive health services and improve health outcomes for families.
The collaboration was highlighted during a meeting between Kilifi Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro, MSI Reproductive Choices Kenya Country Director Dr. Walter Obita, and officials from the County Department of Health.
The discussions focused on strengthening key healthcare interventions, including family planning services, maternal and child healthcare, cervical cancer screening, and public awareness campaigns aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and preventive healthcare practices.
County officials noted that the partnership aligns with ongoing efforts to address some of the most pressing health challenges facing residents, particularly maternal mortality, limited access to reproductive healthcare, and inadequate health information among young people.
The initiative is expected to enhance the availability of quality reproductive health services across the county while supporting healthcare workers through technical assistance, community outreach programs, and health education campaigns.
Speaking during the engagement, stakeholders emphasized the importance of collaborative approaches in addressing healthcare gaps and ensuring that vulnerable populations, including women, children, and young people, have access to essential health services.
The partnership also seeks to promote early detection and prevention of diseases through expanded cervical cancer screening programs and increased public sensitization on reproductive health issues. Health experts have identified preventive healthcare as a critical component in reducing disease burdens and improving long-term health outcomes.
Kilifi County has in recent years prioritized investments in the health sector through the construction and upgrading of health facilities, recruitment of healthcare personnel, and expansion of community health programs. County leaders believe that partnerships with development and health-focused organizations will play a key role in accelerating these gains.
Officials said the collaboration with MSI Reproductive Choices Kenya will contribute to the county’s broader vision of building a resilient healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of a growing population while ensuring that every resident can access affordable and quality healthcare services.
The county government expressed optimism that the partnership will help create healthier families and communities by expanding access to information, preventive care, and essential medical services across Kilifi.
