Kenya’s rising football talent continues to make strides abroad after teenage midfielder Andres Odhiambo Omondi delivered a solid performance in his first start for Swedish third-tier side Enköping SK.
The 18-year-old featured prominently as Enköping SK played out a 2–2 friendly draw against FC Arlanda on Saturday, February 21. Omondi, who recently completed a move from Kariobangi Sharks, showed composure and maturity in midfield despite having joined the club only a week earlier.
Born on December 10, 2007, and standing 1.78 metres tall, the central midfielder has settled quickly into his new environment. His transfer, handled by agent 1914, was officially announced by Enköping SK on February 15, with the club confirming that all paperwork for his move from Kenya had been finalized.
The start against FC Arlanda came shortly after Omondi’s preseason debut, where he was also named in the starting lineup during a 3–0 friendly loss to AFC Eskilstuna. Despite that result, his ability to adapt rapidly to the demands of European football has attracted positive attention ahead of the Division 2 season.
Omondi brings valuable experience at youth international level, having represented Kenya U20 National Team. His move continues Enköping SK’s growing link with Kenyan football, following previous stints by Stanley Wilson Omondi and Irad Mshindi, who featured for the club last season.
The friendly draw against FC Arlanda, played in challenging snowy conditions, underlined Omondi’s resilience and potential, as Enköping SK fought back to secure a result.
As the club intensifies preparations for the 2026 campaign, Omondi’s arrival is seen as a significant boost to the midfield, with hopes that his energy and quality will contribute to a strong push for promotion.
