The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Wednesday met officials from the Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa (ELGIA Africa) to discuss areas of collaboration aimed at enhancing the Commission’s capacity to effectively discharge its mandate.

The meeting focused on strengthening institutional preparedness, electoral reforms, stakeholder engagement and strategic communication in the lead-up to future electoral processes.

Acting Commission Secretary and CEO Moses Sunkuli, OGW, expressed appreciation for ELGIA Africa’s continued support across previous electoral cycles, noting that the partnership has significantly contributed to the Commission’s ability to plan and deliver peaceful, free, fair and credible elections.

Sunkuli said sustained collaboration with technical partners remains vital in reinforcing public confidence and ensuring early planning and coordination of electoral activities.

On his part, ELGIA Africa Executive Director Felix Owuor reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to supporting the Commission, particularly in priority areas such as electoral reforms, stakeholder engagement and strategic communications.

He emphasized that strengthening these areas will enable the Commission to enhance transparency, coordination and effective execution of its constitutional mandate.

The engagement comes as IEBC continues preparations aimed at reinforcing institutional capacity and promoting credible electoral processes in the country.
