Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir today joined hundreds of Muslim faithful at Ronald Ngala Grounds in Mvita for Eid al-Adha prayers, where he called for unity, compassion and peaceful coexistence among residents of Mombasa County.
The celebrations brought together worshippers from different parts of the county to mark one of the holiest occasions in the Islamic calendar, commemorating sacrifice, obedience and devotion to Allah.
Speaking after the prayers, Governor Nassir said Eid al-Adha carries important lessons on generosity, togetherness and supporting one another regardless of social or cultural differences.
“I joined faithful Muslims for Eid al-Adha prayers at Ronald Ngala Grounds in Mvita as we marked a sacred occasion rooted in sacrifice, compassion and obedience to Allah,” said Nassir.
The governor noted that the spirit of unity demonstrated during the celebrations reflects the values needed to foster harmony and development within the county.
“Eid reminds us of the importance of unity, generosity and standing together as one people regardless of our backgrounds. These are values that continue to guide us as we work towards a more inclusive, peaceful and prosperous Mombasa for all,” he added.
Residents gathered in mosques and open grounds across Mombasa to observe special prayers and celebrate the festival with family and friends in line with Islamic traditions.
Nassir further expressed hope that the celebrations would inspire peace and renewed hope among Kenyans at a time when unity remains crucial for national development.
“As families and communities gather to celebrate, may this blessed day bring peace to our homes, strength to our hearts and renewed hope for our county and nation. Eid Mubarak,” he stated.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is celebrated by Muslims worldwide and symbolizes faith, obedience and charity towards the less fortunate.
