China has called for the faithful implementation of the newly signed ceasefire agreement involving Iran, with Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasizing that lasting peace will depend on all parties honoring their commitments.
During a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Wang said the diplomatic breakthrough represented a significant opportunity to restore stability, but warned that its success would depend entirely on genuine compliance with the terms of the agreement.
“The dawn of peace has already emerged,” Wang said, stressing that all sides must fully implement the memorandum of understanding and resist any attempts to undermine the process.
He reiterated Beijing’s support for what he described as Iran’s reasonable and legitimate concerns regarding national sovereignty and territorial security.
According to Wang, the ceasefire should not only bring an end to immediate hostilities but also lay the foundation for a broader and sustainable security framework for the Middle East.
China’s active diplomatic engagement reflects its strategic interests in the region, particularly its dependence on Middle Eastern energy supplies.
As one of the world’s largest oil importers, China purchases a substantial share of Iran’s exported crude, making regional stability and uninterrupted maritime trade routes a key priority.
Wang also emphasized the need to properly address navigation concerns in the Strait of Hormuz to safeguard global commerce and energy security.
In addition to its diplomatic efforts, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced plans to dispatch emergency humanitarian assistance to Iran and Lebanon to support reconstruction and recovery efforts following extensive damage caused by the conflict.
Beijing’s intervention underscores its growing role in Middle East diplomacy as international efforts intensify to preserve the fragile ceasefire and prevent a return to broader regional hostilities.
