NAIROBI, KENYA — Attention shifts to a crucial round of rescheduled FKF Premier League fixtures this afternoon, with relegation survival, top-half ambitions, and podium finishes all on the line despite the title race already being settled.
League champions Gor Mahia headline the day’s action as they travel to face Mara Sugar FC in a 2:00 PM kick-off. K’Ogalo, who have already secured the 2025/26 FKF Premier League title, sit comfortably at the summit on 68 points and could extend their lead over second-placed AFC Leopards to seven points with victory while still holding a game in hand.
For Mara Sugar, currently placed 11th with 43 points, the fixture offers a chance to climb significantly up the table. A victory would move them to 46 points, allowing them to leapfrog several teams, including APS Bomet FC, Tusker FC, Murang’a Seal, and Bandari FC, into an impressive seventh place.
At 3:00 PM, third-placed Kenya Police FC host struggling Kariobangi Sharks in a match carrying major implications at both ends of the table. Police FC, sitting on 53 points, are chasing a strong podium finish and could move to 56 points, opening a four-point cushion over fourth-placed Shabana FC.
For Kariobangi Sharks, the stakes are even higher. Currently occupying the dangerous 16th-place relegation playoff spot on 34 points, victory would lift them to 37 points, enough to leapfrog Ulinzi Stars and temporarily escape the bottom three.
Meanwhile, bottom-placed Sofapaka FC face KCB FC in another crucial 3:00 PM encounter. Sofapaka remain rooted to the foot of the table on just 19 points and are running out of time to rescue their season. With relegation looming large, only a win can realistically keep their survival hopes alive.
KCB, on the other hand, have little pressure in mid-table but still have an opportunity to climb the standings. Victory would move the bankers to 45 points, lifting them above Mara Sugar, APS Bomet, Tusker, and Murang’a Seal into eighth place.
The day’s action concludes with a 4:00 PM clash between Ulinzi Stars and Tusker FC. Ulinzi, currently 15th on 35 points, remain dangerously close to the relegation playoff zone and urgently need maximum points to create breathing space. A win would lift them to 38 points, level with Mathare United and provide a valuable safety cushion.
Tusker, sitting ninth with 44 points, are eyeing a strong finish to the season. Victory would move the Brewers to 47 points, potentially lifting them into seventh place on goal difference.
With the championship already decided, today’s fixtures are expected to intensify the battle for survival and final league positioning as the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season edges closer to its conclusion.
