Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has escalated his criticism of Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, accusing him of being behind an alleged plan to disrupt their travel at Kisumu International Airport.
Speaking on Sunday during an interview with Citizen TV, Owino claimed that more than 200 hired goons were deployed on Saturday with instructions to block and attack him and Edwin Sifuna. The two leaders were reportedly en route to Kakamega to attend an ODM “Linda Wananchi” rally.
According to Owino, they received advance intelligence warning of the planned attack at the airport, forcing them to urgently change their travel plans to avoid confrontation. He alleged that the situation descended into chaos, during which a boda boda rider lost his life, although details surrounding the incident remain unclear.
The Embakasi East legislator described the alleged plot as politically motivated and accused senior officials within the Interior Ministry of abuse of power. He insisted that responsibility should be placed squarely on the Interior PS.
“If arrests are to be made over what transpired, then Dr. Raymond Omollo should be the first to be questioned,” Owino said.
So far, the Interior Ministry has not issued an official response to the allegations. Security agencies have also not confirmed reports of a coordinated attack or any arrests linked to the claims.
