President William Ruto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming Kiambu County through large-scale, deliberate development programmes aimed at improving housing, infrastructure and healthcare.

“We are transforming Kiambu County through deliberate development programmes and projects,” the President said, noting that the government has committed KSh43 billion towards the construction of 17,000 affordable housing units, 30 modern markets, and 8,000-bed hostels across the county.

In a major boost to infrastructure, President Ruto said KSh18 billion is being invested in road construction within the county, while an additional KSh22 billion has been allocated for the dualling of the Muthaiga–Kiambu–Ndumberi Road, a move aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity.

The President also welcomed progress in healthcare financing, saying the Social Health Authority is now providing insurance coverage to 1.3 million residents in Kiambu County.

“I am glad that the Social Health Authority has already paid KSh5.5 billion in the past 15 months, expanding access to quality healthcare for our people,” he said.

During his visit, President Ruto inspected the ongoing construction of the Kikuyu Affordable Housing Project, a 1,140-unit development that has so far created employment opportunities for more than 1,000 young people.

The President praised the workers on site and reiterated that affordable housing remains a key pillar of the government’s economic empowerment agenda, particularly for youth and low-income families.
